22-year-old left-hander, Diksha Dagar from Delhi, recorded her best finish of 2023 and 3rd top 10 in the space of 4 weeks on the Ladies European Tour (LET) by shooting 69-69-67-72 (11-under 277) to finish tied-3rd at the US$320,000 Amundi German Masters held at Golf & CC Seddiner See .
Diksha previously finished 6th in the Belgian Ladies Open in late May and 8th at the Helsingborg Open in Sweden the following week.
That’s given Diksha 8 cuts in her last 9 starts and moves her to 22nd in the Race to Costa Del Sol ( LET) rankings which should be good enough to get her a spot for the Women’s British Open which she has previously played three times – in 2019, 2021 and 2022 . It also gets her into the top 60 in the Paris 2024 Olympics rankings as of now where she hopes to join Aditi Ashok who is now inside the top 50 in the World Rankings.
Entering the final round in solo-third position, Diksha was two strokes behind the leaders but after making 4 birdies on the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 8th holes she was tied for the lead. Three consecutive bogeys from 9 to 11 dropped her back and then she steadied herself, parring the last seven holes to finish tied-3rd.
In the same LET event in Berlin, 16 year old amateur Avani Prashanth, playing on a sponsor’s invitation, started strongly with a 7-under 65 but after struggling to a 79 in Rd 2 which included a 9 on one hole, she carded 75 & then 70 in the final round to finish tied-39th.
Vani Kapoor and Ridhima Dilawari of Delhi both made the cut but finished lower down the standings while Chandigarh’s Amandeep Drall didn’t make it to the weekend rounds.
Diksha and the other Indians will play the US$320,000 Czech Ladies Open from June 23-25.
