36-year-old World No 1 Dustin Johnson showed why he is the dominant player in the world today by completing a wire to wire victory at Augusta with a record-setting total 20 under par, five clear of his closest challengers.

After shooting a flawless 65 on Saturday, Dustin got off to an uncertain start and was 1 over par after his first 5 holes and his lead was down to one stroke !! But as his chasers faltered, Dustin found his best form and made zero bogeys and five birdies in his last 13 holes to run away from the field.
He putted absolutely solid all week and led the field in Greens hit in regulation ( over 80% ! ) so he was rarely in any trouble and when he was, his short game and putter responded magnificently.
The other remarkable occurrence on Sunday was Tiger Woods’ suffering a horrendous 10 on the treacherous par 3 12th. But then being the fighter he is, Tiger birdied 5 of his last 6 holes to finish respectably.
Rory Mcilroy showed promise going 3 under for the day on his final round and reaching 11 under at that stage but thereafter stalled and failed to mount a challenge. However, his 5th place finish remarkably gives him his 6th consecutive top 10 finish at The Masters!
22-year-old Sung Jae Im of S Korea and 26-year-old Cameron Smith of Australia impressed as joint runners up – both showing cool temperaments, repeatedly scrambling spectacularly to end at -15. This is the best ever score in The Masters by someone who didn’t win the tournament! Smith also became the first player in Masters history to score all four rounds in the ’60s.
Overall a noteworthy edition of this grand event which was played in challenging circumstances. It’s hard to imagine the players will be back at Augusta in only five months for the 2021 Masters. I am sure Fans and Dustin Johnson cannot wait!
