Eight Indians play in Vietnam, Pakistan pro wins !

Pukhraj Singh Gill was the best placed Indian at T-9th

Eight Indian pros played this week’s Asian Development Tour US$ 85,000 Vietnam Masters event, with 4 of them making the cut. The best performance was by 27-year-old Pukhraj Singh Gill of Ludhiana, who signed off with a final round 74 to finish 9th.  

Gill entered the final round with a two-shot lead at 11-under par but faltered on the final nine while Pakistan’s first pro player of note after many years, Ahmad Baig closed with a 65 to win. 

The long-hitting Sunhit Bishnoi from Gurgaon, shot 70-69-69 for a tied-11th finish at 8-under par.

Other Indians in the field who made the cut included – 

Aman Raj of Patna- T-31 (-5)

Khalin Joshi of Bangalore – T-47 (-1)

Indians who missed the cut included Saptak Talwar, Akshay Sharma, Arjun Prasad and veteran Rahil Gangjee. 

The 2024 Asian Development Tour (ADT) offers 9 events of purses between US$100,000 to US$200,000 and gives the ADT’s top ranked players at the end of the series, a direct entry into the 2025 main Asian Tour.

This route was followed by India’s Yuvraj Sandhu in 2023 who obtained playing rights for the 2024 Asian Tour thanks to victory at an ADT event in Indonesia last year.

The Indian contingent now will head to the US$ 175,000 Selangor Masters in Malaysia from June 19-22.
