Earlier in March, Indian pro Shiv Kapur, who has made Dubai his home, was named as brand ambassador of the league and hit the inaugural tee shot.
The EAGL is being contested by eight teams of 24 players each, with 12 playing every game and a professional golfer as the coach.
The EAGL aims to provide a platform to Amateur Golfers, to play in a professional tournament type set-up with LIVE broadcast, promote amateur golf in the UAE and underline the country’s importance as a golfing destination.
The EAGL is a first-of-its-kind franchise-owned amateur league tournament in the Middle East sanctioned by the Emirates Golf Federation and backed by Asia Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC). The EAGL is conceptualized by Dubai businessman and passionate golfer, Sudesh Aggarwal and is scheduled to be played on four world-class UAE courses from November 2021.
