Shubhankar Sharma to play his sixth season on the European Tour in 2023

The DP World Tour, formerly known as the European Tour, has announced its schedule for 2023. The upcoming season will see 45 tournaments in 31 countries, with total prize money of US$ 133mn.

The tour will stage events in Singapore, Thailand, Japan and South Korea to counter LIV Golf’s increasing influence on the Asian countries. These events will sadly not be co sanctioned with the Asian Tour, as has traditionally been the case for the past decades due to the Asian Tour’s alignment with the Saudi Public Investment Fund. The DP World Tour has also signed MOU’s with Japan, Korea and India which entitles the top player on their rankings to automatically qualify to play the European Tour the following year.

As of now, Shubhankar Sharma has retained his full playing rights on the DP World Tour and Manu Gandas, having topped the 2022 PGTI rankings has also gained access to the tour and will be seen in action.

The Hero Indian Open is returning on the European Tour after a three year break due to Covid travel restrictions and is scheduled from Feb. 23-26 at DLF Golf & CC in Gurgaon.

The special selection of Rolex Series events on the tour will hold a minimum of US$ 9mn in prize fund, upgraded from US$ 8mn in 2022.
