European Tour Qualifier to be played in Gurgaon

Classic Golf Resort, Gurgaon will host the Asia Qualifier for the LET

In a historic first for India, a qualifying tournament for a major international pro tour is going to be held in the country. The Ladies European Tour (LET) has announced a first of its kind Asia Pre-Qualifier to be held at Classic Golf & Country Club, Gurgaon  from October 11-14, 2022 supported by the Women’s Golf Association of India ( WGAI) which conducts the LET’s Hero Women’s Indian Open and 14 event Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour each year.

The pre qualifier will be played the week immediately before the US$400,000 Hero Women’s Indian Open scheduled on the LET Tour for Oct 20-23rd at DLF Golf & Country Club.

Around 100 to 150 lady pro golfers from around Asia Pacific are expected to participate in the four round tournament at Classic Resort. This will give a boost to the chances of Indian girls who are aspiring to play the LET in increasing numbers each year but like other Asian players,  find it difficult to travel to Europe for pre qualifying events held annually there. Playing at home in familiar weather and ground conditions will certainly give the Indians better chances of making it through to the main qualifying to be held in Spain in December.

Rajat Sethi at Classic Golf and Country Club said: “It is an honour to host the Pre-Qualifier – Asia for the LET’s Qualifying School this year. We are excited to welcome the next generation of golfers to our 27-hole, signature golf course in Gurugram and assist players from all over the world to find their pathway in starting a career in professional golf.”

La Manga Club in Spain will host the four-round Pre-Qualifier – Europe from 10-13 December and the five-round Final Qualifier on 17-21 December 2022 which the Asia qualifiers will travel to play . From the Final Qualifier the top 20 players and ties will eligible for LET Membership for the 2023 season while another 80 or so will qualify for conditional status as well as rights to play the LET’s Access Tour.
