Chandigarh’s Shubhankar Sharma posted a remarkable seven-under-par in the final round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, in Abu Dhabi, to finish tied-32nd, capping off a resurgent weekend performance. After a rough start with rounds of 71 and 73, Sharma turned his game around over the weekend, posting scores of 66 and 65, both of which included an eagle each.
Shubhankar’s final round included two bogeys but he still managed to finish strong, further cementing his position on the DP World Tour. Despite this impressive finish, Sharma’s ranking (62nd in the Race to Dubai) means he will miss out on a spot in next week’s DP World Tour Championship, where only the top 50 qualify.
England’s Paul Waring earned his long-awaited second DP World Tour title and first on the Rolex Series with a thrilling win at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. He carded a bogey-free 66 with a birdie-birdie finish to secure a 24-under total and a two-shot victory over fellow countryman, Tyrrell Hatton.
