43-year-old Rahil Ganjgee shot an impressive 64 to lead the opening round to make his first cut in three events in Japan but followed that up with 72-75-67 to finish at 4-under 278 for a 28th place finish at the US$ 730,000 ISPS Handa tournament in Ibaraki, Japan.

In 2020-2021, Rahil has played in 19 events and made 10 cuts, with his best finish of tied-10th coming at the Mizuno Open in May this year.

Gangjee who currently stands 83rd on the Japan Golf Tour money list needs to record some top finishes to continue playing in Japan in 2022,  else he will need to return to the  Q-School scheduled in December. With only four more events left in 2021, he needs to improve his form to stay on with full playing rights on the Japan Tour, which he earned with a win at the Panasonic Open in April 2018.
