Manu who led the event after his 2nd round 58, took a five-shot lead into the final round over the trio of Chandigarh boy Yuvraj Sandhu, Chikkarangappa S. of Bangalore and Amardeep Malik of Noida. On the last day, Amardeep had closed the gap to just a stroke after 5 holes but faded thereafter as Gandas held his nerve.
PGTI rankings leader Karandeep Kocchar of Chandigarh who started the final round eight strokes behind Gandas, fired a 7-under 59 to finish solo second, three strokes behind the winner and consolidate his position at the top of the PGTI Rankings.
PGTI’s season opener at Hyderabad Golf Club (HGA) saw 129 professionals enter with only 52 making it to the weekend. The tour now moves to Chandigarh for the Tata Steel PGTI Players Championship from Sep. 8-11 at Panchkula Golf Club amid a series of 10 scheduled tournaments.
