Shane Warne, the legendary Australia leg-spinner, shared a funny incident from the golf course from a 2018 cricket show ‘Night Watchman’. After retiring from test-cricket in 2005, Shane went on to lead Hampshire from 2005-2007. During a segment on the show, he was asked about Kevin Pietersen, the former English captain and batsman, and he told the following story:
During the Ashes series in 2005, Pietersen asked Warne if they could play golf and talk about the Ashes series. While playing, Pieteresen’s ball got stuck behind a tree and he wasn’t aware of it. Shane Warne acted like it was his ball and asked Pietersen for a free drop. Pietersen said no. Warne asked again to confirm there was no chance of getting a drop, and only then did Warne tell Pietersen: ‘That’s good mate, because it’s your ball.”
