The 57th edition of the Hero Indian Open, the longest running annual international sporting event in India dating back to 1964, will offer an increased prize fund of US$ 2.25 million, compared to previous editions that offered US$ 2 million, a 12.5% increase when it is held from March 28-31 at the infamously challenging Gary Player course at DLF Golf & Country Club in Gurgaon.
Adding to the anticipation is the return of India’s highest profile international player, Anirban Lahiri, after a gap of 5 years, the 2015 champion, currently competing on the LIV Golf Tour. Anirban’s good form last week in Saudi Arabia offers the prospect of an Indian victory, which would be the first since SSP Chawrasia triumphed in 2017 by 7 shots over Malaysian Gavin Green.

While the official list of around 132 confirmed players is yet to be finalised by this DP World (European) Tour event, one prominent name is the long hitting Nicolas Colsaerts from Belgium. Boasting three victories on the European Tour and a notable role in Team Europe’s 2012 Ryder Cup triumph, Colsaerts adds international flair to the Indian Open.
