As part of the IGU’s international exposure program, a four member Indian contingent of top amateurs consisting of Vinamra Anand, Shaurya Bhattacharya, Harimohan Singh, and Milind Soni are participating in the African Amateur and the South African Stroke Play Championship.
Shaurya Bhattacharya, India’s top-ranked amateur from Delhi, shot 72-71 (1-under 143) to finish tied for ninth at the African Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Leopard Creek, the #1 rated course in Africa.
Last month, a four member IGU contingent travelled to Australia for the Australian Men’s Amateur Championship and Australian Master of Amateurs.
The other three players, Vinamra Anand, Milind Soni & Harimohan struggled and finished much lower down in the field .
The African Amateur Stroke Play Championship was started in 2016. The tournament is usually played over 72 holes, but was reduced to 36 holes this year due to bad weather. Aldrich Potgieter was proclaimed the winner after rounds of 67 and 69 (8-under 136).
