The 3 member Indian ladies national amateur team comprising 15 year old Avani Prashanth, 17 year olds Sneha Singh and Janniya A Dassani, finished ninth at the 42nd Asia Pacific Women’s Amateur Team Championship known as the Queen Sirikit Cup at Laguna National Golf Resort in Singapore.
The tournament was won by Japan, after a gap of 20 years, who posted a strong score of 20-under, beating New Zealand and 6 time winners South Korea.

In the individual event, 17-year-old Singh, the 2019 All India Ladies Amateur winner, shot +2 for the four days to finish tied 14th while Avani Prashanth and Dassani finished 24th and 33rd respectively.
The last time the Sirikit Cup was played in 2019, India finished tied sixth alongside Japan with a score of 6-over 444. That team featured Anika Varma, who now plays in California and teenage sisters Hitaashee and Jahanvi Bakshi who are leaders on the domestic Hero women’s pro golf tour.
Over the past five decades, the Queen Sirikit Cup has been graced by many of the best-known names in the world of women’s golf, including several world no 1 ranked players and major champions like Australians Karrie Webb, Minjee Lee and Hannah Green, China’s Feng Shanshan, Chinese Taipei’s Tseng Ya-ni, Japan’s Ai Miyazato, Koreans Pak Se-ri, Ryu So-yeon, Shin Ji-yae and Kim Hyo-joo, New Zealander Lydia Ko and Thai Patty Tavatanakit, among others.
