Indian amateurs make cut in Swedish pro event

Avani Prashanth registered a T-54th finish in Sweden

Indian amateurs Avani Prashanth and Vidhatri Urs were joined by Asmitha Sathish in making the cut at the  US$ 44,000 PGA Championship Gothenburg, a Ladies European Tour Access Series event at Kungsbacka Golfklubb in Sweden.

Sathish shot 8-over 224 to finish tied  42nd, followed by Avani Prashanth, the 2023 Asian Pacific Amateur (Queen Sirikit Cup) Individual winner, at  225 for 50th place and Vidhatri Urs, cousin of Mysore’s Pranavi Urs, at 226 in 54th place. 

The trio will next play in the Access Series’ next event this week also in Sweden in pursuit of earning important world ranking points which help them earn entry into elite amateur events around the world. Significantly no Indian lady professionals made the trip to Sweden. 

Switzerland’s 23-year-old Chiara Tamburlini won the tournament by five shots in her first tournament as a professional.
