The 13th annual fundraising tournament for the Indian Cancer Society, Delhi chapter, “Drive Against Cancer” saw a full house of 108 golfers tee-off on Oct. 6th at Delhi Golf Club.
The tournament was played as a two member team format with individual prizes as well and the winning team won the big prize of an all expense paid invitation to Phuket to participate alongside 400 golfers from 30 countries in the World Golfers’ Amateur Championship – Invitational section – a once in a lifetime experience.
The event featured two standout moments: a remarkable hole-in-one on the challenging 150-yard par 3 7th hole, achieved by the 75-year-old VK Jaiswal, and an impressive round of gross 73 by Jaydeep Chitlangia from RCGC, who had traveled to Delhi to participate in the event.
The tournament evolved this year with a jump of nearly 35% from last year’s collections and also saw the introduction of three new features – first was the grand prize offered by the World Amateur Golfers’ , the 2nd was the “Donate and Win” feature where golfers could buy Mulligans to improve their scores. Also introduced was live scoring on mobile phones where players could see a live leaderboard at all times and the results could be announced immediately upon conclusion of the game.
Golfers could donate Rs 40,000 to enter a team of two in the tournament or register individually for RS 20,000 and Businesses could sponsor one hole in the tournament for Rs one lac donation which entitled them to branding and one fourball.
A raffle with around 20 valuable prizes contributed by various businesses further helped top up the Indian Cancer Society’s fund-raising drive.
