Ajeetesh Sandhu
32-year-old Ajeetesh Sandhu of Chandigarh shot 69-69-69-72 (9-under 279) to finish tied-22nd at the US$ 1.2mn Dutch Open while Shubhankar Sharma, finished tied 27th at 8 under 280. This is Sandhu’s best finish of the European season taking his earnings to US$45,000 (Rs 33 lacs). .
Shubhankar, who’s season earnings stand at US$ 426,300 (₹3.14 crores) remains at 78th on the European Tour’s Race to Dubai Rankings and close to making the top 70 who qualify for the DP World Championship in Dubai in November. With 7 more events to go, Sharma who has been in fine form lately, looks likely to make it to Dubai.
SSP Chawrasia, of Kolkata, playing in his first event in over a month made the cut with 75-67 but thereafter slumped to 82-75 and finished 74th.
Ajeetesh and Shubhankar will now head to the US$ 5mn Alfred Dunhills Links Championship at the venerable Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland from Sep. 30-Oct. 3 to rub shoulders with show-biz celebrities and global business leaders in the unique pro-am format.
