Sifat Sagoo is making her mark at Purdue

Sifat Sagoo, a 21-year-old junior at Purdue University, shot 69-76-72 (4-over 292 to finish in a tie for 19th in the individual event at one of the six regional finals for the NCAA Div I golf championship but her team qualified for the National Finals in a playoff. 

The Div 1 Finals was not played the last two years because of the Covid pandemic, so this is Sagoo’s first opportunity to play in the sport’s showcase event. “I’m super excited and looking forward to playing in the Arizona heat. It’s definitely one of the best moments of my college career,” Sagoo said about the finals to be played, May 20-25 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

In May 2021 Sagoo was named to the  Dean’s List at Purdue University for her fourth consecutive semester with a 3.5 GPA. She is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Organisational Leadership.

In the NCAA Div III Women’s Finals in Houston, Texas, Indian origin Malini Rudra of New Jersey led her William’s College team to a 6th place finish with a combined score of 1209. 

Emory University ran away with the championship, winning by 26 strokes with a total score of 1175.

On the individual front, Rudra finished 59th, Priya Bakshi from Amherst College tied for 65th while Anika Rana from Centre College finished 71st.
