23-year-old Sahith Theegala of Indian origin, earned his 2022 PGA Tour playing rights following two top 6 finishes in the final events of the Korn Ferry Tour. This was exactly the same route followed by Anirban Lahiri in 2019 to retain his playing rights at the end of that year’s PGA Tour season. 

The top 25 ranked players at the end of the Korn Ferry tour earned their PGA Tour cards and  Sahith finished ranked eighth following a 4th and 6th place in the final two events of the year. 

Playing in the last event of the three event stretch of KFT Finals, Sahith shot 69-71-68-67 (13-under 275) to finish solo-6th at theUS$ 1mn  KFT Championship. Last week, at the US$ 1mn Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship, Sahith shot 14-under total to finish tied-4th. 

On the PGA Tour Sahith had earned sponsor invitations to six events, following an outstanding college golf career at Pepperdine University, California, where he was named American Collegiate Player of the Year. He had made cuts in three with his best result being 14th at the US$6.6 mn Safeway Open in Sep. 2020, notching up US$ 170,000 (₹ 1.2 crores) in season earnings.
