Indian origin Theegala makes cut in California

Pepperdine University graduate and the 2019 US men’s Collegiate player of the Year, 23-year-old Sahith Theegala finished 34th  at the US$ 3.5mn Barracuda Championship on the PGA Tour to earn US$18,200 (₹13.5 lacs) for his third best performance of the season on the tour.

The tournament was played in a modified stableford format, awarding points against eagles, birdies and pars, and penalising for bogeys and worse.

19-year-old Akshay Bhatia, the other Indian origin American, missed the cut-line by a point, set at +10. He had qualified for the tournament after posting a 64 in the PGA Tour’s Monday Qualifier to earn his 17th PGA Tour start.
