9 Indian pros, including defending champion Yuvraj Sandhu, Aman Raj, Rahil Gangjee, Khalin Joshi, S.S.P. Chawrasia, Akshay Sharma, Saptak Talwar, Pukhraj Singh Gill, and Sunhit Bishnoi, are in Indonesia this week to play the US$140,000 Asian Development Tour event there.
Yuvraj won this event in 2023 to earn his full playing rights in Asia, and that’s the same path the other young Indian hopefuls aim to take.
In pursuit of earning full Asian Tour playing rights for 2025, these pros have skipped the Chennai Pro Championship on the PGTI this week.
In 2024, Yuvraj has participated in six events on the Asian Tour, with his best finish being T-22nd in Malaysia.
The surge in Indian players participating in ADT events highlights their growing ambition for international competition. By choosing to forgo the Chennai event on the PGTI, these players are clearly aiming to compete at higher levels and on more prestigious tours. Their decision underscores a long-term strategy to secure their ADT/Asian Tour status.
