Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, venue for 2021 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship

Indian amateurs, both boys and girls are all set to represent the nation at the upcoming Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (APAC) from Nov. 3-6 at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club and the Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific Championship (WAAP) from Nov. 10-13 at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

These are the most prestigious amateur events in Asia and most notably the current Masters Champion Hideki Matsuyama was a winner in 2010 & 2011.

Invitations for the men’s championship are sent to the leading two players from the 42 Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) affiliated countries based on their World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).

Indian boys for APAC – Nov. 3-6 –

  1. Rohan Dholepatil – 25-years-old, former Indian No.1 amateur from Pune. 
  2. Shubham Jaglan – 16-year-old Shubham Jaglan of Delhi who recently moved to University of South Florida to play college golf. 
  3. Arjun Gupta – 17-year-old born and brought up in Dubai, can be a key factor owing to his local knowledge. Last year he had won the Abu Dhabi Amateur Championship
  4. Milind Soni – 16-year-old from Hyderabad, recent winner of the Southern India Junior Boys (Oct.21)
  5. Aryan Roopa Anand – 18-year-old from Mysore, winner of the All India Amateur in 2019
  6. Akshay Neranjen – 20-year-old from Bangalore. 
  7. Arkesh Bhatia – Arkesh Bhatia holds Indian nationality but is in the field through a nomination from Emirates Golf Association and plays at Jacksonville University in Florida

Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific (WAAP)

The winner of the WAAP earns invitations to play in two major championships – the AIG Women’s Open and The Amundi Evian Championship, as well as an exemption for the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.

Indian Girls Contingent 

  1. 20-year-old Sifat Sagoo (ranked 189) of Chandigarh, who is enjoying a stellar season at Purdue University, USA.
  2. 16-year-old Sneha Singh (208) of Hyderabad is a three-time winner on the Hero WPGT
  3. 15-year-old Avani Prashanth (229) of Bangalore is a two-time winner on the Hero WPGT
  4. 16-year-old Anika Varma (430) from Noida, playing spectacular golf in California, where her family relocated.
  5. 16-year-old Kriti Chowhan (592) from Jaipur
  6. 15-year-old Nishna Patel (689) from Mumbai
