Indians in top 10 at World Deaf Golf in Australia

Harsh Singh and Vibhu Tyagi at the World Deaf Golf Championship in Australia

Two Indians fared well for the first time as Vibhu Tyagi and Harsh Singh secured  top-10 finishes at the World Deaf Golf Championship held at Royal Pines, Gold Coast, Australia. Tyagi posted rounds of 82-75-73-73, earning him fourth place with a total score of 15-over 303. 

Singh, who comes from an economically challenged background and was the only player both hearing and speech impaired, finished ninth  at 32-over par and was sponsored for the event by The Golf Foundation. 

The World Deaf Golf Federation (WDGF), a non-profit organization, is dedicated to promoting golf among deaf and hard-of-hearing golfers globally, as well as overseeing the biennial World Deaf Golf Championships. The 2026 edition of the championship is set to take place in Sweden, with the exact dates to be announced

Whereas Ladies European Tour pro and Olympian Diksha Dagar has won gold in past years at the DeafOlympics, she has not yet  participated in the WDG Championship.
