Vani Kapoor, who has won a record 29 times on the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour, is headed to South Africa to play in the R700,000 ( ₹34 lacs) Dimension Data Ladies Challenge on the Sunshine Ladies Tour this Feb. 11-13 at the famous Fancourt GC . Kapoor plans to play the next three events on the Sunshine Ladies Tour as well, which means she will miss the 4 events currently scheduled on the 2022 Hero WPGT domestic season. .
As it happens, Kapoor is also the first alternate for the Ladies European Tour’s season opener Magical Kenya Open from Feb. 10-13 at Vipingo Ridge in Kenya.
Another Indian playing the Sunshine tour is a former Hero WPGT winner, 24-year-old Siddhi Kapoor of Kolkata who is pursuing a three-year course at the TGSE Academy in Cape Town, which is designed to train players for a successful tour career and is certified by the PGA of South Africa.
Last week Siddhi played in the R400,000 SunBet Cape Town Ladies Open, where she finished tied-19th. Sharmila Nicollet, who is based in Florida, plans on joining them at the Rand 1mn Jabra Ladies Open from Feb. 23-25.
