Underlying the fact that golf is a great relationship building sport which transcends all international barriers and In an initiative to promote friendship and understanding with the ever growing Korean = community in the capital, a friendly but competitive tournament was held last week at Jaypee Greens, Greater Noida.

Over the past two years, this amalgamation of golfers has evolved into a closely-knit community, fostering close friendships, extended family interactions, and celebrations of customs, festivals, and cuisine. Looking back, participants now chuckle at the immaturity that once defined the rivalry. Each country fielded teams of 12 men and 4 lady golfers per team and played over 18 holes in a stroke-play format against full handicaps, with all 16 scores contributing to the overall tally.

Kicking off with some energetic moves to the beats of Gangnam Style, the tournament witnessed intense competition. It proved to be a nail-biter, with the outcome hanging in the balance until the final four-ball on the concluding hole, where 40 anxious participants and a cheering crowd of friends and family gathered. In a suspenseful moment, a talented lady golfer skillfully sank a left-to-right 15-foot curler, tipping the scales in favor of India and securing victory for the team. The Indo-Korea Friendship Cup thus concluded with jubilation and camaraderie, marking a symbolic triumph of unity and friendship over rivalry on the golf course.
