Jairaj wins PGTI title in Panchkula

26-year-old Jairaj Sandhu of Chandigarh beat Honey Baisoya on the first extra hole to lift his maiden career title at the 1 crore Haryana Open at Panchkula Golf Club. Sandhu shot 66-69-68-67 to tie Baisoya, who shot a 68-70-66-66, at 18-under 270.

The tall and lanky left-hander Sandhu sank a five-footer for victory on the extra hole to pick up a cheque worth INR 15 lakh that lifted him 31 spots from 44th to 13th position in the TATA Steel PGTI Ranking.

Sandhu had led the field after the first two days before slipping to second place on day three while Baisoya’s final round 66 was the lowest of the day. 

The next tournament on the PGTI schedule is its marquee event – the 1.5 crore Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational from Nov. 2-5 at Chandigarh Golf Club.
