The 18 hole Greg Norman designed championship course, Jaypee Greens in Greater Noida organised a unique 4 ball Team challenge on 9th September 2022. The format was strokeplay with all four scores being counted. There were no given putts and no cap on maximum score on any hole.
The outstanding feature of this event were the prizes. Team Winners got prizes worth 2 lacs, Runner up team 1.6 lacs worth of Prizes, 3 rd Team Rs 1.2 lacs worth and 4th 60,000. Lucky draws of 10k worth each were presented leading to a highly competitive atmosphere meant to encourage really serious amateur golf in the capital.
The Korean team featuring SG Kim, J H Kim, HJ Kim and JD Kim won the event with a Net score of 309.
Runners-Up Team – Ankur Prakash, former All India Amateur champion Pratap Atwal, Mayur Rastogi, and DY Lee
AVT Champions Tour 2021 season champion veteran Ankur Prakash, former All India Amateur champion Pratap Atwal, Mayur Rastogi, a 3 handicap from DLF and DY Lee were the runner’s-up with a score of 312.
Third position went to Kamal Bhatia, Ashis Mohunty, Bhavya Sharma and Yogesh Gupta with a score of 314.
Vinod Bakshi, Capt Gajender Singh, Bhupinder Singh and Nitirath Minhas were fourth with a score of 316.
With the popularity of serious golf having been established, and 13 teams entering the fray, the club intends to hold more such competitive stroke play events in the near future.
