29-year-old Khalin Joshi of Bangalore ended at 22 under , shooting 61-66-64-67 in a birdie fest at the Rambagh Club’s Jaipur Open on the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), winning by only one stroke over Dharma who was at 21 under. Chandigarh boy Yuvraj Sandhu shot 10-under 60 on the final day, underlining the low scoring seen at the tournament.

The win was Khalin’s first since his Panasonic Open win on the Asian Tour at Delhi GC in October 2018. His winning cheque of ₹6,46,600 moves him to third on the tour’s money list with total season earnings of nearly Rs 36 lacs. .

Khalin, a member at the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA) in Bangalore has been in good form, recording a runner-up finish at the MP Cup at Delhi GC the previous week, where he was beaten by Viraj Madappa for the title.

The PGTI now takes a 3 week break before the Rs 1.5 crore Jeev Invitational presented by TAKE in Chandigarh. The Tour has staged a decent comeback after the 2nd wave of the pandemic, and between Sept and December will have staged 10 events with a total of Rs 6.8 crores in prize money. Compared to the first quarter of 2021 which saw just 3 events with Rs 90 lacs in prize money, this has been a welcome lifeline to the hundred odd professional players who play the PGTI for a living.
