Kartik at the Adidas Australian Amateur Championship in Victoria

Fresh off the glory of being part of the winning Asia-Pacific All-star Team at Ras Al-Khaimah in UAE earlier this month, 15-year-old Kartik Singh is riding that momentum into Australia. With a gritty performance at the Adidas Australian Amateur Championship and the 2025 NSW Medal in the ongoing NSW Amateur Championships, Kartik is steadily rising in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) and now sits atop a career-best 117th rank.

The Adidas Australian Amateur Championship, held from January 14-17 at the Commonwealth GC and Cranbourne GC in Victoria, Australia, is the National Amateur Golf Championship of the country, which is played over 72 holes of stroke play and is open to players of all ages.

Kartik was part of a two-man Indian contingent selected by the Indian Golf Union (IGU), alongside 2018 All India Amateur Golf Champion, Anant Singh Ahlawat. Ranvir Singh Pandher also played through a direct entry into the event. Kartik battled a tough afternoon draw in the first round with extremely windy conditions up to 25km/h, which saw him close out at 3-over 76 on the 112nd spot. In comparison, the morning half of the draw was played under calmer conditions and complemented numerous under-par rounds, including the leading score of 7-under-par by Australian native Chase Oberle.

Although the windy conditions held strong for the remainder of the last 3 rounds in both halves of the day, Kartik showed wily grit with rounds of 69-72-74 to finish well above the cut line at a commendable tied-20th position.

In stark contrast, the playing conditions proved to be a tall order for his fellow Indian players, Anant and Ranvir Singh Pandher (playing the event through a direct entry), who failed to even make the cut.

Kartik is in Sydney this week for the NSW Amateur Championships, being held at the Stonecutters Ridge GC and Lynwood Golf & Country Club from January 20-24. The tournament is divided into two formats – The NSW Medal, which is played over two days with two 18-hole stroke play rounds, and the Men’s NSW Amateur Championship Match Play, which pits the leading 32 players from the NSW Medal in 18-hole match play rounds, except for the final that is played over 36 holes.

Kartik delivered a stunning bogey-free 5-under 67 in the second round after a tame opening round of even-par 71. This bumped him up to T16 and onto the match play rounds, which will take place from January 22-24.

Meanwhile, Kartik’s teammates – Anant Singh Ahlawat (5-over 148) and Rohit Narwal (3-over 146) – missed the cut once again.

With remarkable maturity, consistency, and skill, Kartik’s upward trajectory in the amateur golf world continues to impress and inspire. The golfing community eagerly tracks his next moves, rooting for him as he progresses ahead.
