Bangalore’s Keerthana Rajeev Nair, a 16-year-old rising star among junior girls, has earned a prestigious invitation to Korea for the Seri Pak & Annika Invitational, scheduled for October 1-3.
Recently Keerthana represented India at the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Junior Championship in the Philippines, where she finished strongly with rounds 75-72 to finish a respectable 20th. Keerthana has also played six events on the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour, with her best finish being 7th place last week at the demanding DLF Golf & Country Club in Gurgaon.
The tournament in Korea feature’s 78 top junior female golfers from across Asia, invited based on their World Amateur golf rankings (WAGR). The top three from Korea qualify for two bigger events – the “Se Ri Pak Desert Junior” and “Hilton Grand Vacations ANNIKA Invitational” in the United States.
Since its inception in 2011, the ANNIKA Invitational has been a premier showcase for elite junior talent, and its co-hosting with golf legends Annika Sörenstam and Seri Pak makes this event a golden opportunity for young golfers like Keerthana to gain valuable international exposure. However all expenses related to playing the event in Korea have to be borne by the players personally.
