MUMBAI
The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), organised the inaugural CIDCO Masters Cup on Feb.20th at CIDCO’s Kharghar Valley Golf Course (KVGC) in Navi Mumbai. The event saw Indian Olympic Bronze Medalist Tennis player, Leander Paes tee-off with golfers from Mumbai and Pune region, like the Bombay Presidency Golf Club (BPGC), Willingdon Golf Club (WSC), Oxford Golf Resort, Poona Golf Club, US Club and Golden Swan.
The tournament was won by Arjun Nohwar of BPGC, a senior corporate MNC executive who plays off a 3 handicap, with a spectacular 2 under par score in 9 holes. He was 2 over after 5 holes and then shot 4 birdies in a row to win !
The 9-hole golf course has plans of expanding to a full-18 hole golf course and developing a country club with all the modern facilities to be able to conduct commercial tournaments and stimulate international tourism.
CIDCO envisaged the Kharghar Valley Golf Course, built on 52 hectares, as a medium that will boost the country’s tourism by serving as a venue for prestigious competitive events on national and international golfing calendar. With serene atmosphere and excellent topographical beauty, this picturesque and attractive tract of land is an ideal location for golf.
It houses CIDCO’s Magnum-Opus Golf and Country Club, a 18 – hole international standard golf course of par 72 and 7,137 yards.
