Kochhar shines on Asian Tour – shoots final round 64 in China

Karandeep stands 46th on the Asian Tour’s OOM

24-year-old Karandeep Kochhar from Chandigarh carded rounds of 71-70-72-64 to register a tied-5th, his season’s best finish on the Asian Tour at the US$ 1.5mn Volvo China Open at Hidden Grace GC in China.

Kochhar entered the final round standing tied-32nd following  rounds of 71-70-72 at 3-under 213 and fired a final round 64 consisting of a flawless front-nine score of 29 with seven birdies and added two more on the back nine to total nine birdies for the day, helping him move 27 spots up for a tied-5th finish in the tournament.

Kochhar made US$ 55,725 (46 lacs) for his efforts effectively doubling his earnings for the year. 

In 2023, Kochhar has played in 16 events, making 10 cuts to stand 46th on the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit with 384.09 points.

Ajeetesh Sandhu was another Indian inside the top-20 following his rounds of 70-70-72-69 to register a tied-13th finish at 7-under 281. 

Chikkarangapps S. carded rounds of 68-74-77-76 to finish tied-64th at 7-over 295.

Other Indians who failed to make the 36 hole cut set at even-par 144 included – 

Gaganjeet Bhullar – 75-71 (+2)

S.S.P. Chawrasia – 75-73 (+4)

Veer Ahlawat – 74-77 (+7)

Honey Baisoya – 80-78 (+14)

The Indian contingent is now in Hong Kong for the US$ 2mn Hong Kong Open from Nov. 9-12
