Anirban Lahiri who had to choose to move on from the PGA Tour after enjoying a creditable 7 years based in Florida, followed up his 2nd place finish in his debut LIV GOLF event near New York with a 23rd place finish in Chicago shooting 72-71-71(2-under 214).
Lahiri had shared earlier that he took the decision to move to LIV GOLF after hearing good things from friends who moved to LIV and based on him having more control of his schedule, family time and travel.
Lahiri will certainly look forward to the next LIV GOLF event in Thailand in early October, where he can be close to home and stop off in India to see his family and eat home cooked food.
Two weeks ago Lahiri very nearly took the title on his LIV GOLF debut, but missed a 5ft eagle putt on the final green which put him in a playoff.
On the first extra hole, Dustin Johnson drilled home a 35 foot eagle putt to take the title from Lahiri who was lying 3 feet away for birdie.
The LIV GOLF Chicago event was won by British Open champion Australian Cameron Smith who shot 66-68-69 (13-under 203) to win on his second LIV GOLF outing. Last edition’s winner Dustin Johnson and American Peter Uihlein, who has played the Hero Indian Open in 2019, finished joint second.
The 4 Aces Team consisting of Dustin Johnson (Captain), Pat Perez and Patrick Reed & Talor Gooch, won their fourth consecutive team event and now have a 100% winning track record in team format.
