Anirban Lahiri is scheduled to play his 7th PGA Championship later this month

Anirban Lahiri recently registered stellar back-to-back runners-up finishes in Vietnam on the Asian Tour and Australia in LIV Golf Adelaide. Following the trend, Lahiri shot 72-67-67 (7-under 216) to finish 19th at LIV Golf Singapore played out at Sentosa Golf Club.

Talor Gooch of USA continued his explosive form which saw him win LIV Golf in Adelaide as he shot 64-65-67 (17-under 196) to tie Sergio Garcia and beat him in a playoff to become the first player to win back to back on the LIV Tour. His team, the RangeGoats also won the team title ahead of Dustin Johnson’s Four Aces.

Lahiri invited to PGA Championship

Additionally, as expected, Lahiri has been invited to play in the season’s 2nd major, the USPGA Championship scheduled for May 18-21 at Oak Hill in New York.

Lahiri got in based on being ranked 95th on the Official World Golf Rankings based on his 12th place at the Saudi International in February and a runners-up finish at the International Series Vietnam, earlier this month on the Asian Tour.

So Lahiri at the PGA Championship and Sharma at The Open will make it two Indian appearances at major championships in a single season- the first time that’s happened since 2018 when Sharma played all four majors.
