Lahiri’s team wins 1st LIV event of 2023

Amid a lot of controversy about LIV Golf’s TV viewership, popularity and interest levels, Anirban Lahiri’s team The Crushers, which is led by Bryson DeChambeau claimed a commanding victory at the LIV Golf League’s opening event in Mexico,  finishing at 26-under par to beat Dustin Johnson’s 2022 LIV Champion team,  4 Aces by nine shots. 

Lahiri finished T32nd individually after shooting 2-over 215 over 54 holes, although his scores counted for his team on the first three days. He still earned over US$ 151,000 in the individual event, and with his team prize of US$750,000 had total earnings for the event of US$ 901,000 (₹ 7.5 crores). The team’s triumph was spearheaded by Lahiri’s teammate, Charles Howell III, who won the individual title with a score of 16-under 197. LIV Golf’s next event will be held in the USA from March 17-20 at The Gallery Golf Club in Tucson.
