Here’s a can’t miss match – PGA Tour stars Rory McIlroy and world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will face off this December against LIV Golf superstars Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in a made-for-TV match staged in Las Vegas and broadcast on TNT.
For the past two years, golf fans have been divided between the PGA TOUR and the LIV Golf Tour, as the Saudi-backed series sparked a rivalry and divide in the golfing world. The announcement last year of a potential merger between the two tours, with the option for LIV golfers to return to the PGA TOUR, only intensified the debate. Fans, commentators, and even players have taken sides, with some dismissing LIV golfers as “washed up.”
The match marks the first time PGA Tour players will compete against LIV Golf players outside of major championships and the Olympics. Since joining LIV Golf in 2022, both DeChambeau and Koepka have been ineligible to compete on the PGA Tour, but each has won a major despite that, making this match even more significant.
Sean O’Flaherty, McIlroy’s manager, confirmed the event to Sky Sports, stating it “will be a positive event for golf,” as fans eagerly await this clash between two of the sport’s biggest tours and its top stars.
