Pranavi, currently leads the Hero WPGT Order of Merit with four wins to her name this season and this performance in California after recovering from shoulder injury is a mark of her spirit and grit over the season. The unfortunate predicament facing young Pranavi is that she has to choose whether to play the 2nd stage of LPGA Qualifying in Florida, or compete in the US$400,000 Hero Women’s Indian Open in India, the same week.
The top 30 and ties from the Stage-II in Florida get into the final stage of LPGA Tour Qualifying in December, which consists of a new two-week tournament. All those who get into Stage 2 will earn playing rights on the Epson Tour, the development tour for the LPGA which consists of 20 tournaments with at least US$200,000 prize money each.
A strong performance at the Indian Open could on the other hand give Pranavi access to the Ladies European Tour for 2023.
Other Indians in the qualifier in California, Florida based Sharmila Nicollet who was 88th starting the final day, shot a disappointing 78 to miss advancing further while former Bangalorean Nikita Arjun, shot 77-70-74 (5-over 221) to miss the 54-hole cut.
