Hira Naveed of Australia is a Pepperdine graduate of 2019
Continuing the trend of Americans whose parents originated from the sub-continent, like Sahith Theegala and Akshay Bhatia succeeding on the PGA Tour, now 26-year-old Hira Naveed, daughter of Pakistani immigrants, recorded a remarkable runner-up finish at the LPGA’s Ford Championship in only her 5th start as a rookie.
Naveed carded rounds of 68-71-65-66 to finish at 18-under par, two-strokes behind World No.1, Nelly Korda who recorded her 3rd consecutive victory on the LPGA Tour.
Having graduated from Pepperdine, also the alma mater of PGA TOUR winner Sahith Theegala, Naveed has competed in four seasons on the LPGA’s 2nd rung Epson Tour, and earned a cheque of US$ 206,791 which is almost double her cumulative earnings from those past four years.
Hira has also participated in select events on the Cactus Tour, a women’s tour based in Arizona, USA, where she made a stunning debut by winning the Long Beach Open. Furthermore, her impressive performance at the LPGA Q-Series, the final stage of LPGA Qualifying, saw her clinch a 15th place finish, earning her a coveted card for the season.
