27-year-old Manu Gandas from Gurgaon, the PGTI Rankings No 1 in 2022, who enjoyed a year on the European Tour in 2023, will regain his confidence after winning the PGTI’s season opening tournament, the Tata Steel PGTI Players Championship at Tollygunge Club in Kolkata with rounds of 65-67-64-64 (-20).
Local favourite Rahil Gangjee, the overnight leader with rounds of 65-65-64 closed with a 68 to finish two shots behind at 18-under par.
Said Gandas after the tournament “I’ve drawn a lot of positives from my experience of playing on the DP World (European) Tour last year which has helped my game immensely. The fields there were world-class and the environment was completely different. I got to see where my game stood and where it needed to be in order for me to excel at the international level. Just continue what I’m doing.”
The Tour will now head to Hyderabad to play the Rs 1 crore prize money Vooty Masters from Feb. 21-24.
