Megha Ganne, a standout Stanford University golfer with Indian heritage, captured her second collegiate victory at the Nanea Invitational in Hawaii, leading the Stanford Women’s Golf Team, The Cardinal, to be crowned winner. This win caps off a stellar fall season for the third-year student, who joined Stanford in 2021 as the No. 1 Junior Golfer in the United States.
The tournament was fiercely contested among Stanford players, with Ganne keeping her focus as teammates Kelly Xu and Meja Ortengren briefly challenged her lead on the final day. Ganne’s calm under pressure was evident, particularly on the closing hole where she secured her position atop the leaderboard with a birdie, finishing 9-under for the tournament. This victory not only marked her second collegiate win but also made her the 11th player in Stanford history to secure multiple collegiate titles.
Born in Long Branch, New Jersey, to Indian parents Sudha and Hari Ganne, Megha has built a reputation as one of the most promising young talents in American golf with an impressive feat as a 17-year-old, when she qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open and finished as the leading amateur.
Ganne’s performance contributed to Stanford’s collective 26-under finish, setting a new benchmark as the best team score on a par-73 course in the program’s history and extending Stanford’s winning streak to six consecutive tournaments.
