Nitin Gupta (Finished 3rd in Category C)
For the first time ever , two Indians finished in the top 3 places in their respective handicap categories at the annual Mercedes Trophy World Finals in Stuttgart, Germany.
The two were selected based on their wins at the national finals held in early June 2022 at Oxford Golf Resort in Pune where around 40 winners from across various regional rounds in India met to select the 3 member Indian Team.

Amit Bhati (Winner Category B)
In Category B Amit Bhati won while in Category C Nitin Gupta finished 3rd. In fact Nitin, who led the World Final with 41 points on Day one was handed a 6 stroke handicap cut in Rd 2 which hurt his chances of finishing on top after Round 2.
In Germany, as is usual, the tournament which sees players from around 50 countries participate, was played in cold and wet conditions and since in Europe the game is played at the amateur level without caddies, conditions have always been tough for the Indian contingent.
