The Mumbai Golf League (MGL), a member’s only tournament held at The Bombay Presidency Golf Club Limited, completed its third season earlier this month.
A total of 10 teams played the first two rounds, with the top four teams qualifying for the final. Each team played 12 matches in each round – 3 Singles, 3 Foursomes and 6 Four Balls. The format was match play.
Each team had 25 players divided into four categories based on handicap and age: Handicap 0-11, Handicap 12-18, Handicap 19-24 and over 70 years.
Team King of Swings took the early lead after the first round with 18 Points. However, in the second round teams Ninja and Golfing Aryans leapfrogged them with a two-round total of 30 points each, while King of Swings had 29 points. All three qualified to play the finals on April 3rd, 2022.
There was a tie for the fourth spot between teams Fore Amigos and Usual Suspects, who had 24 points each. To break the tie, a playoff was held on the 18th hole between Kabir Kewalramani of Usual Suspects and Ronav Patel from Fore Amigos, which Patel won.
In the final, the four teams played a total of 24 matches divided into 6 Singles, 6 Foursomes and 12 Four balls. Team Golfing Aryans took the early lead and held on to win season 3 of the MGL with 15 points and earn a whopping one million rupees in prize money. Fore Amigos, who just scraped into the final, finished runner up with 12 points.
In all, the teams played five days of competitive golf and enjoyed a total of nine days of sporting entertainment that included an auction gala night, a sundowner poolside party accompanied by live performances and a grand prize presentation finale.
