Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club in Mysore hosted the PGTI for the first time ever as 20 year old Shaurya Binu of Bangalore showed impressive consistency with rounds of 64-64-64-65, finishing at 23-under 257 as the PGTI’s fall winter season 2024 season kicked off.
Entering the final round tied at 18-under par with amateur Veer Ganapathy, Binu shot a 5-under 65 to clinch the title. Aman Raj, the opening round leader, made a strong push with a flawless final round 63, but his birdie on the final hole left him one shot short of forcing a playoff.
This win adds a second title to Binu’s name this season, making him the only player to achieve that feat so far. The victory also earned him ₹15 lakh, propelling him to No. 5 on the PGTI rankings with a total of ₹32,92,725.
Reflecting on his win, Binu said, “There were some nerves at the end, and it felt quite different from my first win earlier this year. On the 18th tee, I knew I had to make a birdie to win. I then executed my plan perfectly on the last hole, hitting a great 3-wood off the tee followed by a solid chip and putt.”
The tour continues in Coimbatore this week for the Coimbatore Open from August 14-17.
