The IGU’s national amateur circuit, which is used for selection of national teams, got underway in Chandigarh and Noida this month.
Rohit wins Samarvir Sahi Trophy in Chandigarh
Rohit, the no.2 ranked amateur in the country from Haryana carded rounds of 73-69-68-72, 6-under 282 to win the Samarvir Sahi Trophy at Chandigarh Golf Club.
Delhi’s Shat Mishra carded 75-73-68-69 to register a runner-up finish at 3-under 285.
Rohit has represented India at the Dutch Amateur Championship, Eisenhower Trophy, Australian Masters of the Amateurs and Australian Men’s Amateur Championship . In December 2023, he finished runner-up at the All India Amateur Championship at RCGC in Kolkata.
The top 60 players on the IGU rankings took part in the tournament.
NCR Cup – Noida
Vinamra Anand of UP, the no.1 ranked amateur in the country, carded rounds of 73-69-70-70 to win the Indian Golf Union’s (IGU) Delhi State NCR Cup at Noida Golf Club. Parth Raman Sood, another UP player, carded 78-67-75-65 to register a runner-up finish, three-shot back at 3-under 285.
The IGU conducts over 14 competitive golf tournaments in a year for Gentlemen category to provide them world ranking points and shortlist them on it for further world level tournaments like World Amateur Team Championships, Asia Pacific Amateur and Australian Master of the Amateurs.
