Nishtha and Sharmila make cuts in America

25-year-old Nishtha Madan playing her fifth event of the season shot 67-72-70 (7-under 209) to finish tied-24th at the US$ 220,000 Copper Rock Championship at Copper Rock Golf Course in Hurricane, Utah. Nishtha had qualified for the Epson Tour at the Qualifying Tournament in Florida. She will soon be joined by Pranavi Urs who has also earned playing rights on the Epson Tour this year.

Meanwhile 32-year-old Orlando based Sharmila Nicollet finished 40th at the US$ 53,000 Wichita Falls Championship, on the Womens’ All Pro Tour, a women’s developmental tour. Nicollet has had 15 wins on the Hero WPGT and was the youngest Indian golfer to qualify for the Ladies European Tour in 2012 .

Sharmila has spent last two years recuperating from slip disc and ACL injuries and surgeries and now has plans to continue to play on the WAPT, which has a partnership program with the LPGA Tour called the Race to Stage II program to reward the top five (5) members at the season’s end with exemptions to Stage II of the LPGA Q-School.

Nikita Arjun, the other regular Indian on the WAPT shot 78-75 (+11) to miss the cut by two-strokes.

In Dec. 2022, Nicollet last played at the Ladies European Tour Qualifierl Final Stage in Spain where she shot 73-74-79 to finish tied-109th to miss out on the card.
