Oman Golf Trophy kicks off in Mumbai

The Oman Golf Trophy kicked off its first edition in India on October 11th at the prestigious Willingdon Sports Club,  Mumbai, attracting 80 corporate golfers eager to secure their spot in the Oman Trophy World Final 2024 to be played in December at the stunning seaside links course of Al Mouj Golf Club in Muscat, Oman alongside 200 other golfers from around the globe.

The Oman Golf Trophy, being played in Italy, Austria, France, Germany,  Japan, South Africa includes India to promote tourism and business collaborations, and will continue its Indian tour with upcoming rounds in Hyderabad on October 20th and Delhi on December 1st.

The opening event in Mumbai was hosted by the Consul-General of Oman in Mumbai, H.E. Jamil Albelushi and was attended also by the Deputy Consul-General, Khalid Al Mughaizwi, while future events in Hyderabad and Delhi will see the presence of H.E. the Ambassador of Oman, Issa Alshibiani. This annual event promises to become a highlight of India’s corporate golfing calendar, strengthening relationships between business leaders and Oman’s tourism and business sectors.

The event was graced by top business leaders, industrialists and corporate CEO’s from across various sectors of business.

H.E. the Consul-General of Oman, Jamil Albelushi said, “We are very happy to engage with so many important and influential leaders from the business world of Mumbai and see their interest in visiting and doing business in Oman. The event itself was excellently presented and attended and the feedback was very encouraging. Oman and India enjoy a long and rich relationship which will only grow in the future through further collaboration. We thank all the participants for their support and congratulate all the winners.”

In an exciting day of close competition, Riaz Batliwala and Rajiv Gaur emerged victorious with scores of nett  65 and 67, respectively. Both golfers earned their trips to the world final in Oman, where they will represent India at the spectacular Al Mouj Golf Club.

Prizes for on-course contests and the Best Gross score were awarded by Rajesh Saluja, MD & CEO of ASK Private Wealth, a co-sponsor of the event along with Prateek Pant, Market Head for Middle East and Africa for ASK Wealth.  Other co sponsors for the event included MG Motors who showcased their brand new Electric Vehicle for India, the Windsor and one of Mumbai’s renowned real estate groups, House of Hiranandani with the golf equipment partner being Bridgestone golf, with their brand of ball being used by Tiger Woods.

The event was curated by former Asian Games gold medallist for India in golf, Rishi Narain and his highly experienced and reputed team from RN Sports Marketing.
