The Oman Golf Trophy 2024 World Final wrapped up in Muscat from December 9-12, hosted at three stunning courses – Ghala GC, La Vie GC, and the stunning oceanside Al Mouj Golf Course. Hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth across 7 countries, including Italy, Austria, Germany, South Africa, Japan, and India, the 48 qualifying tournaments ran from April to December involving 5500 participants in total.
The tournament successfully showcased Oman as an unknown gem among golfing destinations. The well-connected Muscat airport is just 15 minutes from three world-class golf courses; two of them managed by Troon Golf and top international branded five-star hotels within a stone’s throw from the courses. With amazing weather between October and April, great food, warm hospitality of the Omani people and their open attitude to foreigners, and opportunities ahead in tourism and business – Muscat is a must-visit destination.
The final saw 48 qualifiers compete for the winning prizes played among men and ladies. Members of the Omani National Golf Team added to the high-caliber competition. The finalists from India who qualified from tournaments held in Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi were – Rupinderjit Singh, Rajiv Gaur, Madhav Kota, Saurav Kumar, Prateek Pant, Vineet Sharma, and the India tournament host, former Asian Games gold medalist and publisher of India Golf Weekly, Rishi Narain.
Participants also were treated to multiple tourist experiences showcasing Oman’s rich cultural heritage with visits to Muscat, Wadi Shab, Nizwa, Al Hamra, Nakhal, and the Ad Dimaniyat Islands, blending sport with exploration of the country’s natural beauty and history.
For the Indian visitors, all of whom were making their first ever visit to Muscat, this was an eye opener and they all vowed to return to this amazing country with so much to offer.
