Oxford to host AVT Champions Tour stars

After two recent events in November and January, the popular AVT Champions Tour is now headed to Pune at Oxford Golf Resort from April 7th-9th, 2021. The event promises to headline  star power in the presence of the 1983 Cricket World Cup winning team captain – Kapil Dev, Former India International – David D’Souza, the winner of the Delhi leg  – Ajai Sirohi, former three-time All India Seniors Champion Gangesh Khaitan, former Asian Games Gold Medallist and All India Seniors Champion – Rishi Narain and the overall winner of the previous season of AVT Champions Tour – PS Rathore.

The AVT Champions Tour, supported by the Ministry of Tourism under its ‘Incredible India’ campaign is open to amateur golfers over age 50, last played at Eagleton in Jan. 2021 when former India International, David D’Souza of Bangalore (73-74, 147) claimed the title with a  massive six-stroke win over joint runners-up Shivas Nath of Mumbai and Pramodh Kalia of Pune, who both shot matching rounds of 76 & 77 for totals of 153.  

The tour sees average turnout of over 110 enthusiastic senior golfers with 14 handicap and below, and is the most significant new development in the Indian golf landscape. 

The AVT Champions Tour, backed by well-known Chennai based industrialist and golf enthusiast Dilip Thomas, Managing Director, AVT Group, was conceptualised to give a competitive platform for golfers aged 50 and above across India and since then has staged six tournaments till date.
