Collin Morikawa – Winner DP World Championship with Keith Pelley (CEO, European Tour on his right)
The 2021 DP World Championship played two weeks ago in Dubai, which ended the European Tour’s 2021 season, will go down in history as the one where tournament leader Rory Mcilroy infamously collapsed and blew almost US$ 2 million with bogeys on 3 of the last 5 holes while American Collin Morikawa sensationally birdied 5 of the last 7 to win the tournament and the season long money title of the European Tour ( called Race to Dubai) to add to his 2021 British Open crown.
The week will also be remembered for the European Tour’s sensational announcement that the tour will be renamed as DP World Tour from the 2022 season onwards, bringing back memories of the years when it was named The Volvo Tour ( during the 1990’s upto around 2005).
