The Poona Club Golf Course in Pune, Maharashtra, has recently implemented an innovative solution by installing solar panels as coverings in its parking lots. This strategic move not only provides shade for vehicles but also harnesses solar energy, thereby significantly reducing electricity consumption and costs for the club.
Spanning across 100 acres, The Poona Club GC has long been a prominent venue for the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) events and recently hosted the All India girls and boys Nationals, showcasing its commitment to sustainability and environmental consciousness alongside sporting excellence.
The club has also installed a sewage treatment plant which produces 10 lac litres a day, enough to meet all the course’s watering needs.
The club enjoys a membership base of 1000 and is averaging 300 rounds per day.
