Business of Golf
In June, two of the world’s largest amateur golf tournaments announced the appointment of India Golf Weekly publisher RN Sports Marketing (RNSM) to market their global events exclusively throughout Asia in an expansion drive. The two events, World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC) and International Pairs (IP), which have a combined cumulative participation of over 100,000 golfers worldwide each year, appoint individual licensees of their franchise in each country. RNSM has been the exclusive licensee of WCGC for India since 2005 and of International Pairs since 2019. While WCGC headquarters are in Spain, the HQ for the Pairs event is in South Africa.
Identifying new licensee partners for the two tournaments in other Asian countries is RNSM’s job at hand.
Says Jose Guerra, Chairman, World Corporate Golf Challenge “RNSM is the oldest continuous licensee of WCGC anywhere in the world and Rishi’s vast experience in sourcing sponsorship and top class participation will be of great help and build confidence among our new licensees elsewhere in Asia. With RNSM’s connections across the continent, we at WCGC look forward to a new chapter in the long and fruitful relationship with RNSM in growing the WCGC in Asia.”
Said Rishi Narain, a Board Member of GIA and founder of RNSM “This is an exciting opportunity for us as we look at leveraging our 20 plus years expertise in staging top class golf tournaments and share our expertise with our peers across Asia. The WCGC and International Pairs are both exciting opportunities for sponsors to create a unique playing experience for their guests as the winners get the opportunity to travel internationally and play as a team representing the corporate community in their country in a competition against teams from around 30 other countries. This is a once in a lifetime, money cannot buy experience for participants.”
It is a privilege for us in India to have the confidence of the worldwide founders of these events, place their trust in us to expand the event to other Asian countries. We are already in talks with several golf tournaments and travel companies in several countries across Asia and are presenting the opportunity to them.”
